HUSTED: SNOWMASS TUNES UP FOR ECO MUSIC FEST
The EMU (ECO Music Festival) is slated to rock Snowmass from June 30 to July 3 with bands, parties, socials, games and expo booths celebrating everything green.
Here’s the overview. Organizers expect more than 6,000 people to show up for a welcome concert on Snowmass Mountain on June 30 — followed by a giant fireworks display from the mountaintop.
On July 1, it’s a full day in Snowmass with outdoor games: bike racing, foot races to the top of the mountain, yoga on the hill, capture the flag. At sunset, you can just socialize and talk green.
On July 2, look for an 11-hour concert starting at noon. Organizers promise “World-Renowned Headlining Bands.” This is also the same night that Jazz Aspen Snowmass brings Wynton Marsalis to Aspen. Jim Horowitz of JAS had no comment on EMU.
“We won’t release any of the names of the acts yet,” says EMU creator Michelin Hall.
Parties on the Snowmass Mall will follow the concert, with people celebrating green themes and the music industry. July 3 features a networking brunch and a DJ pool party at the Viceroy Hotel.
Organizers estimate festival tickets will range from $70 for general admission to $250 for VIP treatment.
Hall expects that the event will eventually grow to be a huge annual fair celebrating music and the environment.
“All the money is in the bank,” says Hall. “Now we’re all about making it happen.”
The Snowmass Chamber is on board. “We are aware of this and we are helping them,” said a spokeswoman Friday.
